Toronto Film Festival and More!


Toronto International Film Festival, a film festival similar to Cannes film festival that takes place in Ontario, Canada which is also held annually, during September. Toronto International Film Festival usually starts on Thursday night after Labour day and is held for eleven days. This event was founded in 1976 and eventually became one of the prestigious and biggest events. Some notable films such as American Beauty, The Black Swan and 127 hours have premiered at Toronto International Film Festival. Besides the event, Toronto International Film Festival also has an actual cinema, formerly known as TIFF Bell Lightbox cinema complex which started operating in 2010. The cinema also located where the event is held. Exhibitions are also held at TIFF Bell Lightbox. TIFF Bell Lightbox has become a world-class destination for film related exhibitions and moving image artworks that explore the intersections between cinema and the visual arts. Another Touring Exhibitions are also produced by TIFF Bell Lightbox, their touring exhibition circulates different museums, cultural institutions and media arts festival across Canada and around the world. TIFF Bell Lightbox also has a  Film Reference Library (FRL)  especially made for filmmakers, students, researchers, screenwriters and film and television professionals. The Library maintains the world’s largest resource of English-language Canadian film and film-related materials as well as a wide range of local, national and international film resources.

If you are attending the Toronto International Film Festival this 2016 and will be staying for a couple of days, here are some nice places to visit in Toronto to enjoy during your free time. Canada’s memorable and iconic landmark, the CN Tower. This 553 metre tower features a glass floor. The CN Tower’s Glass Floor is a unique and fun experience, visitors can test their courage by walking across the glass floor 113 stories above the ground. The first of its kind in the world, the glass floor gives you that dare-to-walk-on-air experience, with only 2.5 inches of glass holding you 342 metres in the air. The tower’s revolving 360 fine dining restaurant and the Skypod is also a must try, both giving you a breathtaking view of Toronto. Don’t also forget to try out the tower’s latest feature, the EdgeWalk. the world’s highest full-circle, hands-free walk. Visitors are attached through safety rails and harnesses and walk along the Tower’s ledge. If you’re fond of museums, you can check out Royal Ontario Museum with huge range or culture and nature exhibits and Art Gallery of Ontario which is a museum of famous Canadian art.

If you love going shopping, one of the best places you can go shopping is at Distillery District. Home to many of Toronto’s Designer boutique and a taste of Old Toronto, with its cobblestone streets and industrial-era buildings. Aside from shopping, you can also stopa and have a drink at café shops, have a look at breathtaking art galleries and dine in at award-winning restaurants. Another great district for shopping is at Queen West, a mixed variety of shops. from designer brand to second hand shops. And if you wanna shop at a place that feels like you’re in Asia, head over to Chinatown. Located around Spadina Avenue and  Dundas Street West, Chinatown offers authentic Asian restaurants  such as Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese and of course Chinese restaurants. You’ll also find shops that sell products imported from Asia, such as exotic fruits from Asia or Chinese herbs  and a whole lot more. If you’re more on to indoor shopping  you can shop at Toronto Eaton Centre. This mall is one of the biggest tourist attraction in Canada and home to more than 250 shops.  Another great mall to shop at is Scarborough  Town Centre and  Yorkdale shopping centre. So while you are in Toronto, make sure to enjoy every bit by exploring Toronto’s lifestyle and culture!
